Welcome to V-SPACE!

Virtual Spaces for Accessing Content in English

The “V-SPACE: Virtual Spaces for Accessing Content in English” project will be a collaboration between seven Local Education Agencies (LEAs: Morgan, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Roane, Warren, and White) and Tennessee Technological University (TTU). The participants will include thirty secondary English teachers and four faculty members from both the College of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences at TTU. The project will offer intense training to secondary English teachers to help enhance the delivery of English content. The major goals of the V-SPACE project are:
            1. The V-SPACE teacher goal is to increase English teacher knowledge, competencies, and participation in virtual spaces in order to enhance students’ use of multiliteracies in the English content area.

            2. The V-SPACE student goal is to increase student knowledge and achievement of English content by capitalizing on students’ personal use of technology through teacher facilitation of online communities.

In order to reach these goals, a set of learning outcomes will take place. The teachers participating in the V-SPACE project will:
*demonstrate increased understanding of iPad technologies and website
creation, as indicated through the pre- and post-survey.

*learn to maintain their web presence including creating, uploading, posting, and facilitating English course content.

*use their web presence to provide standards-based English resources to students in an interactive online community.

*use their online resources to support and motivate student use of the V-SPACE.

As this project evolves, so will this site!
